Austin Northeast Chasing First Title Since 1970
The program's last championship came 54 years ago with a win over Odessa Permian.
Austin Northeast won three state titles in its history, with the most recent coming in 1970 when the team defeated Odessa Permian 21-14 in the 4A final. Before that, the program claimed back-to-back championships in 1968 and 1967, establishing itself as a power in Texas high school football during that era.
It's been more than five decades since that last title run. This season, Austin Northeast will look to end that drought and add to a legacy that remains among the program's defining achievements.
